Parent & Player Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct applies to all players, parents, and guardians involved with the Varsity Vipers Basketball Club (the Club).
The Club is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment in line with Basketball Queensland (BQ) and Basketball Australia (BA) expectations.
By registering with the Club, all players and parents/guardians agree to the following:
Player Code of Conduct
Players agree to:
Play basketball in the spirit of the game, showing respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
Follow the rules of basketball and the directions of coaches and officials.
Treat all people fairly and without discrimination, bullying, harassment, or abuse.
Use appropriate language and behaviour at all times.
Accept decisions made by referees and officials without argument.
Take responsibility for their actions and behaviour on and off the court when representing the Club.
Care for Club facilities, equipment, and uniforms.
Participate in a safe manner and immediately report injuries or concerns to a coach or official.
Parent & Guardian Code of Conduct
Parents and guardians agree to:
Encourage players to enjoy basketball, improve skills, and demonstrate good sportsmanship.
Support and respect coaches, referees, officials, volunteers, and Club staff.
Never abuse, criticise, or intimidate referees, officials, coaches, players, or other spectators.
Allow coaches and officials to manage games and training without interference.
Use appropriate language and behaviour at all times.
Raise concerns respectfully through the appropriate Club channels, not during games or training.
Support the Club’s commitment to child safety, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Safety, Integrity & Member Protection
The Club has zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, discrimination, or abuse.
All members must comply with Basketball Queensland and Basketball Australia Member Protection, Integrity, and Safeguarding policies.
Any concerns relating to safety, behaviour, or welfare should be reported to the Club as soon as possible.
Breaches of the Code of Conduct
Breaches of this Code may result in disciplinary action.
Actions may include warnings, suspension, removal from activities, or termination of membership.
Serious matters may be referred to Basketball Queensland in line with its policies.
