Membership Agreement

This agreement applies to all players registering with the Varsity Vipers Basketball Club (“the Club”).

If the player is under 18 years of age, this agreement is accepted by the parent or legal guardian. If the player is 18 years or older, they accept this agreement themselves.

By registering, I agree to the following:

1. Membership & Conduct

  • I agree to the player becoming a registered member of the Varsity Vipers Basketball Club and Basketball Queensland.

  • I understand that all members, parents, and guardians must comply with:

    • The Varsity Vipers Club rules and policies

    • Basketball Queensland and Basketball Australia Codes of Conduct

    • Member Protection, Integrity, and Safeguarding policies

  • These policies are available on the Varsity Vipers website at www.varsityvipers.com.au.

  • I accept responsibility for the player’s behaviour while involved in Club activities.

  • I understand that breaches of these rules may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from the Club or competition.

2. Fitness to Participate

  • I confirm that the player is medically and physically fit to participate in basketball activities.

  • I will promptly inform the Club of any medical condition, injury, disability, or change that may affect the player’s safe participation.

  • I understand the Club relies on this information when allowing participation.

  • If unsure about fitness or health, I understand it is my responsibility to seek medical advice before participation.

3. Medical Treatment

  • If the player is injured or becomes unwell during a Club activity, I authorise the Club to arrange emergency or necessary medical treatment.

  • I understand that I am responsible for any medical or related costs incurred.

4. Images and Media

  • I consent to photographs and video recordings being taken of the player during training, games, and Club events.

  • I understand these may be used by the Club for communication, promotional, and marketing purposes, including on websites and social media.

  • I understand I may withdraw this consent at any time by notifying the Club in writing.

5. Privacy

  • I understand that personal information is collected to manage membership and operate the Club.

  • This information may be shared with Basketball Queensland and Basketball Australia where required for registration, insurance, competition, or compliance purposes.

  • I understand the Club may also communicate relevant information from sponsors or partners.

  • I can access or update personal information by contacting the Club.

  • The Club’s Privacy Policy is available on the Varsity Vipers website.

6. Risk, Safety & Insurance

  • I understand that basketball is a physical sport and involves inherent risks, including the risk of injury.

  • The player participates in all Club activities at their own risk.

  • While the Club takes reasonable steps to provide a safe environment in line with BQ requirements, it cannot eliminate all risks.

  • I understand the Club strongly recommends appropriate personal accident and health insurance.

  • I acknowledge that any insurance provided through Basketball Queensland is limited and does not replace personal insurance.
